Jewish Lifecycle
We support our congregants in all of the lifecycle events—welcoming new babies, bar and bat mitzvahs, confirmations, weddings, and services in times of loss. From birth to death, Jewish life marks every threshold with covenant, community, and blessing.
“Teach them diligently to your children, and talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way.”

Marking life's thresholds together
Welcoming new babies
Brit milah and baby namings—covenantal welcomes that bring a child into the community and the story of Israel from their first days.
Bar & Bat Mitzvah
Young people are called to the Torah as sons and daughters of the commandment, after years of preparation in Hebrew and Jewish learning.
Confirmation
Older teens confirm the faith and identity they have grown into, completing the journey begun at b'nai mitzvah.
Weddings
Marriages celebrated under the chuppah, joining two lives within the covenant community.
Times of loss
Funeral and memorial services, and the community's presence in the seasons of mourning that follow.
Kashrut in our kitchen
We maintain a kosher, non-meat kitchen in the synagogue—only dairy and pareve foods are prepared and served here, packaged foods carry a hechsher (kosher certification), and during Passover no chametz is permitted. Our practice is rooted in Torah, respects Jewish tradition, and leaves room for grace where individual convictions differ.
Planning a lifecycle event?
Reach out to the office and our rabbi will walk you through what preparation and celebration look like at Sha'arei Shalom. Young people preparing for b'nai mitzvah study through our Dorot youth track and Hebrew classes.
